The Suzhou Jinji Lake Half Marathon, held annually in Suzhou since 2010, is dubbed a “Gold Label Road Race” by Chinese Athletic Association. It has played an important role in increasing the city’s reputation worldwide.
This year’s event, which is also the first leg of the 2023 Grand Canal Marathon Series, was sponsored by the Publicity Department of the CPC Jiangsu Committee, Jiangsu Sports Administration and the People’s Government of Suzhou.
The event consisted of the half marathon (21.0975 km), the short-distance marathon (about 10.5 km) and the mini marathon (about 4 km) which attracted the runners of different ages and from different social circles.
The routes were upgraded to allow the participants to run by many amazing local attractions including the Suzhou Center Mall, Oriental Arc, Ligong Causeway and Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre, which reflect SIP’s fast evolution since its inception 29 years ago.
